Founding Student Day
(Posted on 06/03/17)
On Saturday 18th February, we hosted our Founding Student Day and it was wonderful to see so many of our students coming together and getting to know each other. In the morning, our Bank of America hosts led the sessions with an ice-breaking activity in groups and then a team challenge.
The students were set the “Turnaround a Pound Challenge” and as a group they had to create a business plan with their ideas and calculations of how they would grow their seed money as fast and as much as possible within a month. The groups came up with some amazing ideas and astounded the Bank of America judges. The winning group projected a £44,000 total for charity for the fund-raising activities.
As the concepts were so strong and students showed their skills in working together as a team and using their business acumen to raise money for charity, we have decided that as a school, we will hold a “Turnaround a Pound Challenge” in September for the charity which CIS will sponsor during the next academic year.
After a great lunch, we split into different groups to design certain aspects of the Studio including enrichment weeks, common room design and work placements. A lot of ideas were shared and much progress was made. Our students' ideas are already informing our design of key areas of school life.
We thank all our students who were able to make it to our first Founding Student Day and look forward to seeing you all in the next few weeks for our next event. Thanks also to Bank of America Merrill Lynch for hosting a great event.
